1947 CADILLAC SEDANETTE 2 DOOR COUPEThe Cadillac Series 62 is a series of cars which were produced by Cadillac from 1940 through 1964. |
1948 Buick SuperHerman Nel’s Buick had only one owner before he bought it. This model had a straight 8 cylinder engine and the hood ornament was known as a “bomb sight”. Buick’s slogan was, “When better automobiles are built, Buick will build them”.
The car was a bit lower than the 1947 model with new 7.60 x 15 tyres, wheel trim rings and small hubcaps. The instrument panel was redone, using silver-tone instruments on a two-tone gray panel. T
otal sales were 108,521.

1958 CADILLAC FLEETWOOD SIXTY SPECIALThe Cadillac Sixty Special name has been used by Cadillac to denote a special model since the 1938 Harley Earl-Bill Mitchell-designed Series 60 derivative. The Sixty Special name would soon be synonymous for some of Cadillac's most luxurious vehicles.

1968 CADILLAC CALAISThe Continental Mark III was the name officially given to the prestigious luxury Coupe car of Lincoln Mercury production. This model first appeared in 1968 but was promoted as a 1969 model and sold for $6,585. The vertical grill was a noticable style feature.
The style was characterised by a deck lid as well as a spare tyre motif on the back of the trunk. It also had a formal roof line with blind quarters, ventless curved side glass, bladed body sides and a hop up behind the back pillars. |
1960 CHEVROLET CORVAIR 700The 1960-69 Chevrolet Corvair has been the last radical mass-produced car from troubled General Motors, although 1,710,018 units of the rear-engine auto were sold. The Corvair was a little costly for its initial economy-car market and too "foreign" for many Americans. It was replaced by conventional Chevy small cars. A Mr Ralph Nader described this car in a book in 1969 as "Unsafe at any Speed" and this largely put a stop to further production. In 2002 Herman bought two Corvairs in Johannesburg and one in Middelburg and out of the three made this one.

1975 JAGUAR XJC 5.3 V12The Series Two models were introduced at the 1973 Frankfurt Motor Show alongside another variant on the XJ theme, a two-door coupe. This model which carried the suffix C (for Coupe), was especially significant in that it represented Sir William Lyon’s last project before his retirement from active design in 1972. However, there were considerable problems with sealing and raising and lowering the small rear
windows,so the coupes did not go into production until early in 1975. |
